Does the Chamber own sites where we can go rock hounding?

No, the Chamber no longer owns claims to property where people can rock hound. These claims were given to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) many years ago. These lands are open to the public and accessible anytime throughout the year (weather permitting). For more information, please visit our Rock Hounding page under the Vacation section.

Can we rock hound year-round?

Depending upon the weather, there are some locations that are open all year. However, many of the best locations are in mountainous terrain where early and late snowfall can make the sites unreachable. Please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 541-447-6304 or the BLM at 541-416-6700 for weather conditions before you venture out.
